If you’re looking to fall in love with Vermont, a single June day here will likely seal the deal.

Everything is lush; strawberries and asparagus are in season; and there’s a delightful cremee stand (or two) in just about every town. The days are warm enough for a swimming hole visit, but the nights cool down to be “good sleeping weather,” as a local radio announcer described it the other day. Vermont summers feel very gentle. (Although it’s getting hotter here too, as everywhere.)

You can also get a giant 8-person strawberry shortcake to-go at a little white church nestled among the trees ….

On top of the gentleness of the weather and landscape, though, is layered a whole lot of hustle and bustle, as folks rush to get all their warm weather fun in. There is outdoor live music multiple nights a week, Food Truck Roundups, farmers markets (the Brattleboro Farmer’s Market is an especially lovely one, tucked away in the trees by the river), and fairs and festivals galore.

It’s also a great time of year to visit and see if Vermont feels like home. Come enjoy wading at sweet little roadside spots like Old Jelly Mills Falls; bask in the coziness of a Vermont country store; treat your dog to the hospitality of the local coffee shops.
