Southern Vermont Welcome Wagon
Connecting New & Returning Vermonters to Community Hosts & Resources
Welcome Home
You’re here! We’re so glad!
As part of our statewide GROW network, the Vermont Welcome Wagon Project seeks to help people make connections and get settled more quickly into the green mountain state. We help you connect you to resources and wish to help make your transition as simple and fulfilling as possible!
JOIN AS A NEW OR RETURNING VERMONTER
Connect with the Southern Vermont Welcome Wagon chapter by filling out this form with some very simple info about yourself — where in VT you relocated to, your interests, any specific questions you have, etc. This info is used only to communicate to our network of hosts (via email newsletter) and to help geographically connect you most easily. Within a couple of weeks of submitting the form, you can expect to hear from a host looking to connect.
JOIN AS A LOCAL HOST
We’re looking for local hosts to …
- Connect 1:1 with a newcomer once every 2-3 months – and help introduce them to local resources and other folks in the community who share their interests … have them over for dinner, or meet up for a round of disc golf. Even one visit can make a newcomer feel warmly welcomed!
- Join us as a volunteer at local newcomer welcome mixers
- Plan and host a newcomers meetup in your town (with a microgrant from SoVermont to cover food or activity fees)
Sign up via the same form as above … just check the “host” box! We’ll get together virtually or in person for a quick orientation and then add you to our monthly newsletter, which will include new local Vermonters as well as different opportunities to meet up — upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and family activities!
Not ready to join Welcome Wagon yet? Sign up for our GROW SoVermont email to stay in the loop about not-to-be-missed area happenings and newcomers mixer events.
”It can be intimidating to move here and the internet doesn’t have all the answers. Ask a Vermonter – we love to help. Personal relationships are how we do things here.”
